Cover Art: Big Bites Break Boundaries

I worked with author Stephanie Ng, CEO of Body Banter, for her debut title Big Bites Break Boundaries.

Ng courageously chronicles her journey battling an eating disorder in her teenage years, and proves that in the rawness and messiness of our lived experience is also ultimately where we find connection to each other’s humanity. Uniquely told through the lens of her Asian background, laced with nuisances from her western education in post colonial Hong Kong, and our society’s evolving expectations on women, I found her story so resonant and moving.

For the cover art, we leaned heavily on the concept that this story is not only about her relationship with food, and on a deeper level, her journey in learning to take audacious risks in her self-discovery. It is sometimes messy, like taking a metaphorical bite into life itself. We explored layers, bursts of colour, and finding the right tone to reflect the cultural influences behind her voice.
