Because Mental Health
Two full-pages commissioned by Because Mental Health Magazine for its inaugural issue.
Top: So much of what’s represented in terms of mental health care has been western media focused, and I wanted to create an imagery that evokes a kind of traditional stoic poise and composure that is typical of our culture in portratire. I was also inspired by collage artworks that juxtapose jarring realities, and how what we foster in our intellect also manifests in our emotional well-being.
Bottom: The second feature addresses the pressing issue and pressures of social media on our mental health. For this, I use the play on the word “Content” to both mean what we produce, as well as the emotional state of contentedness. One can fulfill you, while the other crushes you.
@becausementalhealth is a youth-led org that promotes conversation around holistic well being.
